I have heard it said that “our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. As I began creating this page I could not help (or resist) but to learn more about the industry of horse slaughter. No, it does not sound pretty nor is it. It led me into learning more about the abuse that both our domesticated and wild animals endure to appease the satisfaction of those that mistreat these humble animals in sport (such as the rodeos) and also when it comes time for the killing (the slaughter). Our focus at At Ease Body Care has been geared towards heart health based on the Premarin industry and all the by-product foals they have produced for near 60 years. We believe that by helping people understand their "hearts", particularily women, we will not only be helping ourselves but also helping and alleviating the strain on so many mares that live lives destined only to provide conjugated estrogen derived from their urine (not to forget their by-product babies that most often are slaughtered and sold as meat products for human consumption).
It challenged me greatly to open my eyes to see and learn what is taking place in this industry (behind closed doors). Because I care deeply about the humane care and welfare of all animals I have chosen to provide links to some web sites that have reached out and made a significant difference in assisting those that do not have a voice of their own. If you choose to go onto these web sites I need to forewarn you that they contain both graphic content and images of inhumane treatment of many different kinds of animals. I would not share this information with you if I myself did not feel a shift in my heart and consciousness from what I have learned. Maybe this might happen for you too.

In Memory of Slaughtered Horses
We invite you to join the International Fund for Horses in a Virtual Candelight Vigil in rememberence of all slaughtered horses.
Yvonne from At Ease Body Care has been a horse owner since 1991. During this time, her love of the horse took her on a journey to learn and be with the horse, in their natural way. Today, lessons learned have been applied in areas of her own life. There can be no better teacher than that of nature and the gratitude that has been felt from these lessons so well learned will never be forgotten.

On October 31st, 2006 a herd of horses was stranded by rising water levels on a small plot of land in the Netherlands after a heavy storm. As the days stretched on people feared for the lives of more than one hundred horses! See this dramatic video footage of their daring rescue by four woman
